Ram, Peralta highlight impressive 2017 Doubles Draw
The RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas will be fielding one of its strongest ever doubles draws this week.
Earning the No.1 seed is the duo of Rajeev Ram and Julio Peralta. Ram – who won a silver medal alongside Venus Williams at this past summer’s Rio Olympics – comes into Dallas with a No.12 world doubles ranking while Peralta enters at No. 42 in the world.
The American Ram has been a fixture at the RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas, notching what will be his 12th appearance at the event as he hopes to add to his already impressive success at the indoor tournament. The 32-year-old has made the doubles final four times, winning three of those as well as finishing a finalist in singles in 2015.
Peralta will be making his first appearance at the RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas in 2017. But the Chilean will be coming in with an strong resume of his own. His 2016 accomplishments include six Challenger Tour doubles titles to go along with three ATP 250 Doubles Titles.
At the bottom of the draw in the second seed are Americans Brian Baker and Nicholas Monroe who own world doubles rankings of No. 68 and No. 50, respectively. Monroe finished as finalist in Dallas alongside Jack Sock in 2012.
Not be overshadowed at the No.3 seed are Scott Lipsky and Andre Begemann. Lipsky owns 15 ATP doubles titles to go along with two RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas doubles titles.
Other notable pairings include Mao-Xin Gong and Ze Zhang of China, Americans Ryan Harrison and Frances Tiafoe, Denis Kudla and James McGee, as well as 2016 doubles finalist Sekou Bangoura who will team up this year with Luke Bambridge.
Ram and Peralta will kickoff this evenings highlight matches on Hamilton Family Stadium Court as they take on Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Christopher Rungkat at 7pm. Singles top-seed Ryan Harrison will follow in his bout with Eric Quigley.
