The first go at playing together for the young American Frances Tiafoe and German veteran Dustin Brown proved successful for the duo in Houston.
Both former competitors at the RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas, the 19-year-old Tiafoe and 32-year-old Brown fought their way to the finals at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship where they fell to Julio Peralta and Horacio Zeballos 4-6, 7-5, 10-6.
In the pair’s first tournament playing together, they began their Houston run taking out the No.2 seeded team of Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal in three sets which led to an eventual semifinal win over Kevin Anderson and Sam Querrey in straight sets.
Tiafoe last played doubles with Ryan Harrison this year in Dallas. Peralta was also there, competing with teammate Rajeev Ram.
