American Ryan Harrison has begun to put together a remarkable 2017 campaign after coming away a doubles champion at Roland Garros.
The 2017 RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas singles champ earned his first career Grand Slam title as he and Michael Venus defeated a pair of former Dallas players – Donald Young and Santiago Gonzalez – 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 6-3 in the French Open final.
The doubles victory is the second this year for Harrison and Venus. The pair also won in early Mary at the Millennium Estoril Open. Harrison was also a finalist with Steve Johnson at the Memphis Open where the Texas native won the singles title this year.
Harrison has risen to a career-high No. 30 doubles world-ranking and also career-high No. 41 singles ranking. He came into the 2017 Dallas event at No. 235 doubles and No.78 singles, respectively.
For Young and Gonzalez, the finals appearance at the French was the first career Grand Slam finals for either player.
