Tennys Sandgren won his second Challenger Tour event of the year, defeating Joao Pedro Sorgi in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in Savannah.

The victory at the St. Joseph’s/Candler Savannah Challenger, combined with his earlier win in Tempe and runner-up finish in Sarasota, has allowed Sandgren to rise 76 spots in 2017 to No.115 in the world.

The 25-year-old American – who was a 2013 doubles finalist in Dallas alongside Rhyne Williams – and teammate Jarryd Chaplin came just shy of reaching the Savannah doubles final as well, getting edged out by eventual champs Peter Polansky and Neal Skupski 3-6, 7-5, 11-9. Polanksy and Skupski defeated Luke Bambridge and Mitchell Krueger in the final.
